Hi every body. A couple weeks ago I was out trying to find some thing to do, usually alone since nobody I know likes cars it seems. I know I must sound like a fool, but what ever happaned to Bun & Barrel? I used to come out there in years past with my 68 GTS Dart running a 440 magnum. You would see the best of the best in local hot rods and custum cars and bikes every where.
I went out by there on a Friday night, and there was one car. A old station wagon, the family was eating inside. I went in and asked the old waitress, which I remember from before and she told me there have been no car's and fun stuff out there for over 6 years!
I must have been freeze dried or something for years. I didnt go there too often, as the Pig Stand on Broadway under 35 was where the Mopars hang out. Does any one know why this old established hang out dried up and blew away?
Could we Stangers take it over? Am I retarded?

I guess like everything else nothing last forever. I know there are lot of car clubs members in San Antonio and I also wonder were they all like to hang out. It seems these days most people do not have as much free time as 10 to 20 years ago. We have been trying to get things going at SAMC with multiple activities each month and it starting to pickup. Good deal Steve! This is all so new for me, I never liked Fords at all! My first car at 17 years of age was a 67 GT 2+2. I forgot what 2+2 means. it had a 289 Cobra in it with 271 horses. A T-10 top loader 4 speed and 3:91 gears. It had the cool console, and the rally pack with the ET timer on the right, and the tach on the left side of the steering collum. It had a Hurst shifter and T handle. It was very pretty, in that dark metallic blue Ford had, with a black interior. But.....it was a piece of junk! I almost had to have someone with tools and extra parts follow me just to go out for a night cruise!
But when they came out with the cool Commercial with the Father and son out in a empty parking lot at night doing some quality burnouts, I had to go and drive one. What a huge HUGE difference in cars! I couldnt be happier with my 07 GT, its made me feel 20 years younger!!

Glad to hear that the 2007 Mustang is the fountain of youth for you. I have been thinking about 2007 Shelby GT that will be out in January. My problem is my garage is full and my bank account is empty.

Ya I was reading about the 07 Shelby GT. I dont know how my Stang compares performance wise compared the the Shelby GT. I run 12.90's and no worse than 13.02 at 112mph screaming over the line at 6.600 rpm in third. My car has 4.200 miles on it.
All I did was lower the tire presure 10 lbs, but you do have to get your launch perfect. I just dont rev much over 3000 then get off the clutch with the traction control on. San Antonio Raceway, has some real sticky crap spayed on the track sometimes, I allmost flipped my Kawasaki Vulcan 2050 cc V-twin out there!
Oh...I definitly know about an empty bank account, the stuff I bought to make my GT come alive, a SCT Xcal2 Tuner and Brenspeed tunes 87, 91, and the 93 octane tune I run. Also the C&L CAI and a set of polished stainless Pypes axel back mufflers set me back $950.00. I put it on a credit card that had a nasty interest rate. My wife is going to be most un happy with me, when she see's the bill.. Oh well......at least I got the goodies I wanted.
